DARC Meeting Information

Delta Amateur Radio Club meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at the Ellendale Church of Christ located at 7365 Highway 70 (Summer Ave.) The time for the meeting is 7 p.m. EVERYONE is welcome to attend.

Every year, our November meeting revolves around the election of club officers for the coming year and presentation of awards to members.  Members receiving awards are those that have given of their time, knowledge and/or equipment to make a positive impact on their community through amateur radio.

Each month the club offers an interesting and informative program usually centered around amateur radio.  In past months there have been programs on QRP, Rabbit Hunting, Cardiopulmonary Recusitation (CPR), Coax Connector Installation, J-Pole Construction, Field Day, VHF-UHF Contesting, Dayton Hamvention, Antenna Installation Safety, EME, Packet, The Internet, and many more too numerous to mention.  Are you a DARC member and have a suggestion for a program that you think other members would like to see at an upcoming meeting?  If you are visiting our page and belong to another club, maybe you have some good program ideas that your club has done that you could share with us.  We are always looking for new ideas for programs.  E-mail us with your suggestions please.  Look farther down this page for an upcoming program schedule.

After a short break to stretch our legs, greet new members and visitors and enjoy some coffee and desserts that some faithful members bring each month, it is time for the business portion of our meeting.  Business meetings are similar in most clubs so I will dispense with the details only to say that this is the part of the meeting where the club is informed on the recent board meeting decisions, ideas and reports to the club including membership votes on necessary items of business.  Meetings normally adjourn by 9 pm.  If you are local to the Memphis area*, we encourage you to come visit with us and enjoy the fun, education and fellowship that Delta Club has to offer.

* Note: Local is a relative term. We had a member of the club that NEVER missed a meeting since joining many years ago, even after moving to Jackson, TN (approx. 60 miles away)  (Update - This individual, Bob Youngblood, N4WAL has finally missed a meeting, on May 12.  Bob became a silent key on May 11, 1998.)   The Bob Youngblood Award was created in his honor.  It is not given out every year but is awarded whenever we find a member that contributes to the club at the level that Bob did.  He never missed a meeting, he was at every public service event, he participated in Field Day every year and generally was available to help any time the club had a project that needed completion.  Bob, we miss you greatly.
